To promote Spectrum Originals’ newest psychological thriller, Angela Black, we pulled back the curtain on gaslighting.

At the time, the word was still somewhat new to our cultural dialogue. And I saw an opportunity to bridge the central theme of the show with a conversation that was soon to be prevalent in our society.

So I developed and produced a three-part docuseries on the topic. Not only would it spread awareness and intrigue for the show, but it would also help people navigate their own experiences of being gaslit.

When we published in January, the series sparked a conversation on social, and people shared their own stories in the comments.

By November, Merriam-Webster announced “gaslighting” as the word of the year.
